My Music 2007, Vol. 1

When I started blogging my music list for this year, it was just too monstrous to fit in one blog. I figured it best to break down everything instead. I consider an entire album a fave if I can get through it from start to finish--and like every song. Here are the ones that made the cut, along with the songs I've played heavily and added commentary. Comment as you like, and feel free to add your fave albums of the year.

Maroon 5: It Won't Be Soon Before Long/B-Sides

I love this band. Everyone knows it. The second album wasn't what I was expecting, but the grittier feel to most of the tracks and the emotional-lyrical ride makes it hard for this cd to stay out of my disc changer...or iPod...or...anywhere.

Fall Out Boy: Infinity on High

I think I was riding popularity wave with the rest of the world when F.O.B. hit mainstream play in '06, so I was waiting to see how their latest album measured up. The opening song ("Thriller") makes a good jump start and Jay-Z's contribution set the tone for the album. Classic F.O.B., with a twist.

Bloc Party: A Weekend In the City

This album is well rounded to get you movin' and make you mellow.

Timbaland: Shock Value

There are a lot of songs on this album that I think you'd need a cetain taste for, but the good songs outweigh the bad. From the rump shakin' "Release" to the sobering remix "Apologize", to a the egotistically hot "Give It to Me", Timbaland's worth a listen.

Carrie Underwood: Carnival Ride

I was coming home late at night when I first heard "So Small" on the radio, and I was pretty much hooked after that.

Alicia Keys: As I Am

I'm still discovering this cd, but I like what I hear so far.

Kaskade: Bring the Night

I still recall the day I got an e-mail from this deejay on MySpace when he was using his Mormon background to reach out to listeners. I was skeptical...until I actually picked up his album "In the Moment". I've been a fan ever since, and I was nearly bouncing to Soundwaves to pick up a hard copy of this album. If you look progressive house, you'll love Kaskade.

Trentemoller: The Last Resort

This album is only useful to people who like deep, spacy electronic music. It's incredibly long if you purchase it digitally, but it's worth listening to.
